2024 Worlds Review
The Windsurf World Championship concludes successfully, with dominance from Italian and French sailors Italian sailors won 9 gold medals at the championship held at the Sailing Club La Ballena Alegre.
The Windsurfer World Championship came to an end, the regattas took place over five thrilling days in the waters of the Bay of Roses, with two racing areas in front of the Cortal de la Devesa Beach in Sant Pere Pescador. Sailors from 23 countries participated, establishing it as a premier international event, with 283 windsurfers, including around fifty women.
The Italian team dominated the competition, winning a total of 9 gold medals, followed by the French team, which stood out with 13 medals, including seven silver ones.
Over five intense days of competition, the best windsurfers tested their strength in various disciplines: Race Course, Slalom, Freestyle, and Long Distance. The changing wind and sea conditions throughout the week challenged the participants' endurance and technical skills, and they excelled in each of the disciplines.
The most outstanding competitors, who won the world championship in their categories, were French athlete Celina Bordier (overall women's category), Italian Alessandro Alberti (overall men's category), and fellow Italian Alessandro Torzoni (masters category).
The award ceremony was attended by Abel Garcia, Secretary General of Sports, who highlighted the importance of this event for promoting sailing sports in Catalonia and worldwide.
By organizing this World Championship, the Sailing Club La Ballena Alegre successfully marks the 25th anniversary of its founding, solidifying its position as a leading force in the international sailing and windsurfing world.

Over 250 LT's from 12 countries came together over New Year in 2024 to race the Windsurfer World Championships. Hosted by the South Of Perth Yacht Club, there was 6 days of racing in a variety of condition. Disciplines included Course Racing, Slalom, Marathon and Freestyle.
